The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) on July 30, 2026, issued a circular regarding Fast-Track Disposal of Consent Applications for Compostable Plastic Manufacturing Units.
The following has been stated: -
•Under the "Ease of Doing Business" initiative and to effectively implement the Plastic Waste Management Rules, 2016, the Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) aims to encourage eco-friendly and alternative packaging materials.
•To support compostable plastic manufacturing units, all consent applications, including Consent to Establish (CTE) and Consent to Operate (CCA), will now be processed and disposed of within a maximum of 3 working days from receipt.
•This decision comes into force immediately to boost the production of environment-friendly alternatives and streamline administrative approvals.
